STUDIO BATHROOM
The goal for this mural was to give a general facelift to a once raw industrial interior. The bathroom is within an active art studio space, so a design that could be easily maintained was crucial. For the upper half of the wall, the colors were inspired by the pinks and blues of the stunning sunsets often seen at Thompson’s Point, and the shapes and design reference the lively energy of being in a studio where artists are creating. The “activeness” of the upper design makes any future accidental marks on the wall not as noticeable. A single color section was painted on the lower half of the wall, lending itself to easy cleaning and touch ups as necessary. This deep blue-green section, an allusion to the ocean below the sunset, also helps the mural not be visually overwhelming- the bathroom is small and this space gives the eye a place to rest. A fresh coat of paint for the ceiling and support beams completed the transformation.
